Saints pick up big win at home against ASA College Miami

The ÌìÑĺ£½ÇÉçÇø Saints men's basketball team went to a seldom used strategy on Saturday afternoon, pulling out a zone defense against the undersized, but accomplished outside shooting of ASA College Miami, showing the versatility of Coach Chris Mowry and the Saints in a 69-60 win.
"We've probably only played zone about 5-10 possessions all season before tonight's
game," said Mowry. "But we felt it gave us the best opportunity against a team that
typically runs four guard, and who's 6'7" post an step out and knock down 3's. Our
guys did a nice job closing out and contesting."
ASA started the game strong, leading 10-3 just minutes into the game, but the Saints
quickly flipped the script and outscored the Silver Storm 17-1 over the next 11 minutes
to lead 20-11 with just under six minutes to play in the first half. SF held their
lead and took a 30-23 advantage into the locker room.
The Saints (4-2) started the second half on a 17-6 run and built their lead to a game high 18 with 13:48 remaining.
The Silver Storm couldn't get a rally going over the final 10 minutes, and got it only as close as nine, which was the final margin.
Twelve players saw action for ÌìÑĺ£½ÇÉçÇø, and 11 scored. LaBrian Shiflet led SF with 13 points, Alex Brown had 12, and Leo Edwards had 10 to round out the double-digit scorers.
ASA committed 30 personal fouls, and sent the Saints to the foul line 45 times. The Silver Storm shot just 31% against the Saints zone, and 17.4% from behind the arc.
The Saints will continue their five-game home stand when they host Tallahassee CC on Tuesday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m.
