Lusignan Hits Grand Slam, Saints Fly Past Falcons, 14-2

Daytona Beach, FL – ÌìÑĺ£½ÇÉçÇø scored in just two innings on Wednesday afternoon at Daytona State College but they accounted for 14 runs as SF (18-10, 6-3 MFC) pulled away for a 14-2 mercy rule victory over the Falcons in seven innings. The win moves the Saints into a first place tie in the Mid-Florida Conference with St. John's River State College.
Colby Lusignan led the offensive charge, drilling a grand slam in the seventh inning, his team leading fifth homerun of the season.
The Saints got another strong effort on the mound from sophomore ace Kevin Martin (3-2) who tossed six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Chase Julius finished the game off with a scoreless seventh inning, at which time the mercy rule was enacted with SF up by 10 or more after seven innings.
ÌìÑĺ£½ÇÉçÇø jumped out early with five runs in the third on a three RBI double by George Ragsdale, a wild pitch and a RBI single by Roger Gonzalez. Daytona answered with two in the third on three walks and a hit, Martin's only hiccup of the day.
The Saints put the game away with a nine run seventh inning. SF scored one run on an error, Andrew Fears hit a two run homer and Lusignan blasted his grand slam to put an exclamation point on the day.
Casey Scoggins finished the day 2-for-3 with three runs scored, George Ragsdale was 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs, and Roger Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI.
The Saints will take to the road on Friday for a MFC match-up against Florida State College-Jacksonville at 3:00 PM.
