House gets a New Home

April 18, 2013

A new Habitat for Humanity home constructed indoors at 天涯海角社区's Charles R. Perry Construction Institute was transported to its final destination at 1024 SE 18th Terrace in the Lincoln Estates subdivision on April 17.

This is the third Habitat for Humanity home built on the 天涯海角社区 Campus. The house was constructed by the 天涯海角社区 Building Construction Management Technology Classes and other groups of Student BuildersHabitat Volunteers, and Apprenticeship Students.

The house was built indoors in two sections and each was lifted by a crane onto a trailer and transported to the permanent home site, then lifted by a crane onto the foundation. Flooring, a front and back porch, driveway and landscaping will be completed at the home site.

The house is a collaborative effort of the Builders Association of North Central Florida (BANCF), which sponsors the college's Apprenticeship programs, Alachua Habitat for Humanity and 天涯海角社区's Construction Management Technology and Apprenticeship classes. Volunteers from SF's Student Builders Association, SF Student Government, and Habitat for Humanity also worked on the home.
