Sustainability Action Plan
Overview
天涯海角社区 is committed to becoming a leader in sustainability by adopting practices that promote environmental stewardship, resource efficiency, and climate resilience. The Sustainability Action Plan focuses on three major categories:
- Decarbonization
- Zero Waste
- Conservation
Together, these initiatives aim to minimize the college鈥檚 ecological footprint, support local and global sustainability goals, and inspire the campus community to embrace sustainable practices.
By addressing greenhouse gas emissions, waste management, and natural resource conservation, this plan aligns with the college鈥檚 mission of fostering innovation, inclusivity, and community leadership. Through actionable strategies and measurable outcomes, Santa Fe College will enhance its environmental performance and pave the way for a more sustainable future.
Decarbonization
These initiatives aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through clean energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable transportation.
- Clean Energy: Expand on-campus renewable energy capacity and explore battery storage systems.
- Energy Efficiency: Retrofit buildings with LED lighting, energy-efficient HVAC systems, and smart monitoring technology.
- Sustainable Transportation: Increase EV charging stations, promote carpooling and biking, and prioritize electric golf carts for fleet procurement.
Zero Waste
These initiatives intend to minimize waste generation, maximize diversion from landfills, and promote circular economy principles.
- Recycling and Composting: Enhance infrastructure for recycling and organic waste collection, and partner with local composting facilities.

Conservation
