UF's STEAM Quest comes to 天涯海角社区

July 13, 2015

Twenty-four Florida high school students are gathering at the University of Florida July 12-17, for the university's first-ever STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Quest summer program. The interactive and integrative program is geared toward students who are interested in the intersections of science and the arts.

The students made their way to the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium at 天涯海角社区 on Monday for a Florida Skies Astronomy Show. Planetarium Coordinator, James Albury, who is co-host of PBS TV Show "Star Gazers," navigated students through the night sky with the GOTO Chrono Space Simulator. On their "trip," Albury encountered popular constellations visible from sunset to sunrise and the stories behind them.

In addition to their 天涯海角社区 Planetarium experience, these rising students will be exploring STEM fields, engineering and the arts with renowned scientists and artists from UF at locations both on and off UF campus including Devil's Millhopper, Blue Springs, a local cave and the studio of a professor from the School of Art.
