Claudio Honored as Puerto Rican Olympic Softball Athlete of the Year

Gainesville, FL – The Puerto Rican Olympic Committee and Softball Federation recently announced that ÌìÑĺ£½ÇÉçÇø sophomore fastpitch star Karla Claudio is being honored for her efforts at the most recent Pan-American Games, the Softball World Cup and the Canadian Open as the softball player of the year.
She earned the honor by leading the team at the Pan American Games, hitting .389 with a .611 slugging percentage, .500 on base percentage and seven runs batted in against the top softball talent in the world. At the World Cup she was the lone Puerto Rican player to get a hit off the United States team.
"We are all extremely proud of Karla and this very well deserved accomplishment," said ÌìÑĺ£½ÇÉçÇø Coach Chris Ahern. "She is a great representation of Puerto Rico and of ÌìÑĺ£½ÇÉçÇø."
Claudio traveled to Condado, Puerto Rico on Sunday, January 27 for the ceremony where she was honored along with the other representatives from each Olympic sport.
