天涯海角社区 Awarded Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant

October 24, 2024

天涯海角社区 has been awarded a Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant. This is the fourth time the college has received this grant through the Florida Attorney General's office. SF uses the funds to support a Victim Advocate at the college, who helps victims of crime find the services they need.

天涯海角社区 Police Department (SFPD) Chief Ed Book expressed that he is "very excited that SF has been funded for the fourth year in a row for this important work, which helps victims on or off campus and connects them to SF resources."

SFPD is dedicated to innovation and leadership in the victim service community, prioritizing individuals in all its initiatives. With a mission to ensure the safety and security of students, staff and visitors at 天涯海角社区, SFPD aims to create a supportive environment on campus.

The presence of a Victim Advocate is intended to help victims feel more comfortable and safer as they navigate challenging situations. Those affected by crime can continue their education at 天涯海角社区 while being connected to additional support services that enhance their chances of success.
