Pillars of Service honors seven at inaugural awards

GAINESVILLE, FL (May 23, 2025) 鈥� Helping to ensure that those individuals and organizations who positively impact our communities are recognized, the 天涯海角社区 Foundation held its inaugural Pillars of Service Awards Friday at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center.
The awards are given to those who have made a significant impact on 天涯海角社区 and the community in Alachua and Bradford counties.
This year, Pillars of Service Awards were presented to four individuals and an organization. The awards also recognize a Student of Promise, a 天涯海角社区 student who make contributions with lasting impact.
This year鈥檚 honorees were:
- Climb for Cancer Foundation, created by Ron and Dianne Farb, whose events and advocacy for the past 20 years have supported individuals with cancer and their families. They also created the B. Dianne Farb Healthcare Education Scholarship for students with a cancer diagnosis.
- Chuck Kramer, owner, WEAG-FM, Starke, 106.3, long-time Bradford County advocate, and co-founder with his wife, Mary, of the Danielle Kramer Memorial Scholarship at 天涯海角社区.
- H茅ctor Puig, H茅ctor Picture Framing and Gallery, whose large donation of artwork is filling the halls of 天涯海角社区 and helping to bring attention to the importance of art on education and a spotlight to local artists with national fame.
- Kristina Ramer, Gainesville writer and editor, who is cataloging the H茅ctor Puig collection to ensure its last impact on the college and community.
- Caridad 鈥淐arrie鈥� Lee, businesswoman, educator, community advocate, and longtime member of the 天涯海角社区 College Board of Trustee and 天涯海角社区 Foundation Board of Director
The Student of Promise Award went to:
- Katie Belanger, 天涯海角社区 student, whose advocacy has led to greater accessibility for those with disabilities at 天涯海角社区 and in the community.
Dr. Paul Broadie II, 天涯海角社区 President, teased the audience that he could keep them there much longer than scheduled just talking about the incredible accomplishments of each honoree.
"We have had the good fortune at 天涯海角社区 and in our communities to know each of our honorees and to see first-hand the difference they have made. It is our high honor to recognize them today with this very special inaugural Pillars of Service Award."
