Media Relations Has a New Face

Media Relations Coordinator Julie Garrett recently accepted the position of Community Program Manager at the FairShare CSA Coalition in Madison, Wisc. Her last day on campus was Wednesday, April 25.
"It has been such an honor to tell the stories of 天涯海角社区 for nearly seven years. I will really miss my 天涯海角社区 family," said Garrett. "But I am also very excited about the work FairShare is doing and I am looking forward to promoting their efforts."
Communication Specialist Amanda Hernandez will take on Garrett's duties as the interim Media Relations Coordinator. Hernandez began working part time for 天涯海角社区 in March 2011, and has steadily increased working hours to meet the department's needs, most recently plunging into the role of editor of Today@天涯海角社区 in February.
"Julie was a great asset to 天涯海角社区 and will be missed," Hernandez said. "I have big shoes to fill, but I am definitely up to the challenge."
Hernandez will continue to edit Today@天涯海角社区 and the Daily. She will also be responsible for writing and distributing press releases, administering the 天涯海角社区 Facebook page, directing media calls and producing the SF Monthly newsletter. She can be reached at 352-381-3692.
