SANTA FE LOSES FIRST MFC GAME TO DAYTONA STATE, 69-53
Daytona, FL 鈥� The 天涯海角社区 Saints (17-8, 6-1 MFC) have already clinched their second straight Mid-Florida Conference title, but couldn鈥檛 make it seven wins in a row in conference play. The Daytona State Falcons got the best of SF on Wednesday night, defeating the Saints 69-53 in the two teams third match-up of the year. 天涯海角社区 won the previous two meetings.
鈥淒aytona played very well tonight,鈥� said Coach Chanda Stebbins. 鈥淭hey played harder and wanted it more than we did.鈥�
Demisha Mills led SF in scoring with 16 points, leading scorer Lanita Bartley had 13 and Leandra King scored seven points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
鈥淚 thought Demisha did a good job tonight,鈥� said Stebbins. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 the type of effort we know we can get out of her game in and game out.鈥�
The next game for SF is at home on Saturday against Central Florida CC, a team the Saints have defeated twice this season. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00pm. Former player and 天涯海角社区鈥檚 all-time leading scorer and rebounder for women鈥檚 basketball, Laura Johnson (1980-82), will be on hand as Coach Stebbins and the rest of the athletics department honor her for her contributions to SF basketball.
